This week in class we discovered the beauty of duets trios and quartets. Diving deeper into the State song Hawaii Pono i we found ukuleles can take seperate parts, we experimented playing in duets, we seperated chords and played them together and seperately. Students mined out the secrets of the SATB arrangement held and we played them in all toegether and as solo pieces. We studied a full duo riff in the key of F and we also talked a little about scales used in the art of Steel Guitar. Students asignment this week is to finish decoding their SATB music of Hawaii Ponoi, to listen to the classic rock and roll ballad sleepwalk by santo and johnny (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1st_9KudWB0) and to be prepared to play the song next week in four pieces. mahalos sam New classe have started for this year, i will try to blog about it weekly (not weakly). This week the beggining students learned Hawaii 78 in 3 keys and the advanced students did finger picking exercises in the same keys. The session culminated in a joint activity where both classes played together. Congratulations to the students they were able to transpose on the spot to a new unlearned key. Both beggining students and the advanced students did this and i was so proud of their accomplishments. Anyone is welcome to join please bring your own ukulele and if you have any question i can be reached at (808)426-4281 or [email protected]
